Insurance agencies handle nonpublic personal information every day. In Connecticut, Conn. Gen. Stat. §38a-38, the Insurance Data Security Law, requires a written information security program and third-party vendor oversight only for licensees with ten or more employees, counting independent contractors who have access to that information. Every licensee still has to investigate and report cybersecurity events.
Pasting a client's dec page into a personal chatbot is a third-party exposure. We set up the tools and controls, including business accounts, data controls, vendor review, and access policies, and we document what we set up so your compliance advisor can use it.
This is not legal advice. Confirm your obligations with your counsel or compliance advisor.
Also for CPA firms, law offices, dental practices, and any small business with repetitive work.
